The AzeeMed 3 Prichard Periosteal Elevator is a surgical dental instrument that is utilized to gently elevate, reflect and separate the periosteum and surrounding soft tissue from the underlying bone in the oral cavity during surgery. It is frequently used for the raising of flap surgery, extractions and other forms of maxillofacial surgery that requires the delicate elevation of soft tissue. This instrument will usually be manufactured as double ended as in usually having a point at one end and a blunt curve at the other. This will offer a versatile design allowing both initial penetration of the flap and the reflection of soft tissue, so as to access underlying bone structure, through a finely tuned sharp working end that will promote minimal soft tissue damage. The 3 Prichard Periosteal Elevator is most often constructed of high quality stainless steel as it will offer strength and durability along with resistance to corrosion and will be highly sterilizable. The instrument will also have a contoured handle with a satin (matte) finish for a firm grip while also preventing any unnecessary reflection of surgical light.
