Dental 6 & 23 Explorer
The AzeeMed 6 & 23 Explorer is a double ended diagnostic dental instrument used for thorough examination of tooth surfaces during clinical evaluation. It comprises two distinct explorers on one handle: No. 6 Explorer tip and No. 23 Shepherd's Hook tip. The No. 6 Explorer is an instrument that has fine, pointed, sharply curved tip and it is used for detection of dental caries, calculus and other anomalies of tooth surfaces (smooth surfaces and inaccessible areas). The No. 23 Explorer or Shepherd's Hook has a sharp, hooked, sharply curved tip which is best suited for examining pit and fissure caries as well as the tooth margins, and interproximal surfaces. This allows to complete a more thorough examination of the tooth and aids in the identification of any incipient decay. It is often constructed from high quality stainless steel, to allow for strength, resistance to corrosion, and to ensure ease of sterilization. The handle usually has a serrated or satins finish which aids in grasping and controlling the instrument.
