William Probe & UNC12 Probe
AzeeMed Williams probe and UNC-12 probe are periodontic diagnostic instruments which are used to examine the health status of the gingival tissue and the alveolar bone structure around the tooth. Both probes are slender rod shaped instruments with blunt, rounded tip designed to measure the depth of gingival sulcus or periodontal pocket safely. The Williams probe is graduated at 1,2,3,5,7,8,9 and 10mm marks. The numerical values 4, 6 and 10 have been omitted so as not to crowd the numerals and make it easier for accurate clinical assessment during examination. It is generally used in regular periodontic examination and provides easy and rapid measurement of pocket depth. The UNC-12 probe or University of North Carolina probe has a 12 mm working end that is marked from 1 to 12mm continuously in 1mm intervals thus giving more precise and detailed measurement of the periodontal pocket. It is used extensively in charting and to follow progression of disease state. Both instruments are typically made of high quality stainless steel that guarantees longevity, resistance to corrosion and suitability for sterilization techniques. The working end typically has a knurled or satin finish that enhances tactile sense and control over the instrument during probing. In summary, Williams probe and UNC-12 probe are critical instruments used by dentists to establish an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for periodontal conditions.$30.50
